2. Installation

  1. Remove the shipping restraints from all four toner cartridges and from the transfer belt door before first power on.
  2. The first boot runs an initialisation cycle of several minutes. Do not power it off part way through.
  3. Set the address from the panel, then finish configuration in the Embedded Web Server, which exposes far more settings than the touch screen.
  4. Change the default administrator password immediately. This model ships with a well-known default and is often reachable across the whole office network.
Keep the packaging until the machine has printed a few hundred pages without fault. Transport damage often shows up in the first week, and returns are simpler in the original box.

3. Drivers and network

4. Maintenance schedule

Intervals below are for typical office use. Machines in dusty rooms or running heavy graphics need the shorter end of each range.

MonthlyClean the ADF rollers and both scan glasses; wipe the bypass tray feed roller.
Every toner changeCheck the waste container level in the Supplies screen. A full waste container stops the machine outright.
Every 60,000 pagesDrum cartridges reach rated life; they are separate from toner and are replaced individually.
QuarterlyPrint the configuration report and compare the firmware version against the current release.

5. Common faults

Colour blotches or uneven fill

Run the colour calibration from Device, Support. If it repeats in the same place, one drum cartridge is at fault; the calibration report identifies which.

Machine stops with waste container full

This is a hard stop by design, to prevent contaminating the paper path. Keep a spare container on site.

Faded band down one edge

Toner low on one cartridge, or the transfer belt needs cleaning. Check supply levels before calling for service.

Panel asks for a password nobody knows

The administrator password was changed and not recorded. Recovery requires a service visit; record it in your password manager once reset.

Prints are correct on screen but wrong colour on paper

The application is sending an RGB profile the printer maps differently. For consistent output, set the driver colour mode explicitly rather than leaving it automatic.

Switch the machine off at the mains and let the fuser cool for at least thirty minutes before reaching into the paper path. Fuser assemblies run above 180 °C in normal operation.
