2. Installation

  1. Unlock the scanner transport lock underneath the flatbed before switching on. Shipping with the lock engaged damages the carriage.
  2. Install the toner: shake it horizontally about ten times, then push it in until the lever seats.
  3. Set language, date and time at first boot. The time matters, because scan-to-email and job logs use it.
  4. Assign a static address in System Menu, Device Settings, Network. Most sites keep MFPs off DHCP so scan destinations do not break.
Keep the packaging until the machine has printed a few hundred pages without fault. Transport damage often shows up in the first week, and returns are simpler in the original box.

4. Maintenance schedule

Intervals below are for typical office use. Machines in dusty rooms or running heavy graphics need the shorter end of each range.

WeeklyClean the ADF glass strip, the narrow band of glass to the left of the main platen. A single speck there prints as a line down every scanned page.
Every 100,000 pagesReplace the maintenance kit: pickup rollers, separation pad and fuser as one service item.
Every 300,000 pagesDrum and developer reach rated life. This is what the long-life design is about, and it is a technician job.
MonthlyPrint the status page and check the counter against your service plan.

5. Common faults

A black line down every scanned copy but clean prints

The ADF glass strip is dirty. Clean it and rescan the same original to confirm.

Call service C6000 style codes

A C code is a hardware fault, not a user-clearable jam. Note the exact number before power cycling, it is the fastest route to the right part.

Scan to folder stopped working after a Windows update

SMBv1 was disabled. Configure the destination for SMBv2 or newer in Command Center RX.

Copies come out lighter on one side

Usually the original is not flat on the platen, or the pressure cover hinge has slipped. Check with a fresh flat sheet before adjusting density.

Toner low warning very early in life

Toner coverage is high, for example dense graphics. Yield ratings assume about five per cent coverage of the page.

Switch the machine off at the mains and let the fuser cool for at least thirty minutes before reaching into the paper path. Fuser assemblies run above 180 °C in normal operation.
